The National Interior Design Educators Council held their annual competition in April, drawing students from interior design programs all over the country. Some interior design students from North Carolina placed well in the competition, giving their budding interior design careers an added boost.
The competition was held in Scottsdale, AZ this year, and was open to students from interior design programs across the US. Competing designers entered at the regional level, and competed against 14 other interior design college teams once they arrived at the national competition.
In a competition that lasted 8 hours, 4 students from an interior design program in Raleigh, North Carolina, won second place for their design project called "Generations at Work." Using innovation in workplace interior design, their project focused on workers from different generations and a space that would welcome them all.
What Competition Can Do For You
An interior design contest or competition comes with greater rewards than simply a cash prize or scholarship. To have your name be mentioned at interior design conferences or organization meetings is excellent for your career in interior design. It means recognition, at a local, and sometimes a national level. You never know who will attend the conference, or read about the results, and want to meet you.
You’ll also gain exposure to different ideas from students at other interior design colleges. And if you’re not in an interior design program, consider getting into one. It’s the best way to start your career.
