The industry is growing. Almost 50% percent of Americans plan to redesign their home in the next five years. This number was only 35% five years ago. By entering into an interior design program, you and your industry have a big future.
What do you have to offer to the world of interior design? No matter what it is, earning a degree through an interior design program is the best way to start.
The Right Choices
Being a successful interior designer is all about making the right choices, and this starts with your degree. At an array of schools across the country there are Associate of Arts or Sciences, Bachelor of Arts or Sciences, and Bachelor of Fine Arts degrees in interior design. There are also undergraduate programs which focus on architecture or computer-aided design (CAD). Later on you might even choose to take your education even further with an interior design graduate program.
Choose your program depending on the sector of interior design you like best. Do you want to design home or office space? Public or private? Residential or commercial?
Customize Your Program
Make yourself as prepared as you can be by choosing the right courses. Your class schedule may include color scheming, lighting design, furniture design, interior design history, art history, and even some business classes. Customize your class load according to your career preference, making sure you’re prepared for life after graduation.
At the end of your interior design program, a number of careers await you, from the latest suburban mall, to the highest corporate office building downtown, to the house around the corner. An interior design undergraduate or graduate program can get you there; it’s up to you to take the first step.
