A new interior designer started her own interior design business and now works in restaurant and residential interior design, and it all started with an interior design diploma program.
Ready for a career change, Bijal Shah switched from IT to interior design. She entered an interior design diploma program and opened up her own business two years ago. It just goes to show what can be accomplished with a little education. An interior design diploma mixed with a little talent is all you need sometimes to be a successful interior designer.
All Budgets Welcome
Ms. Shah welcomes realistic budgets in her interior design business. To her, interior design shouldn’t be available only to the wealthy. She helped with the residential interior design of one customer, creating a new space with well-chosen furniture. She worked on a restaurant interior design project on a modest budget and created a “space coordination scheme,” an interior design that worked in the restaurant.
The Best Starting Place
Her interior design principles stem from her interior design diploma program. She loves to be involved from start to finish on any interior design project. She helps clients select materials, and follows the project through the completion of the final product.
Residential interior design is an accessible industry that is great for starting a career in interior design. Working with homeowners to create residential interior designs that work in the space they have and on their budget is an important skill to master.
And the other skills—you can pick those up in an interior design program.
