Some of the simplest home decorating ideas can be the most effective, especially when a growing number of professionals run their businesses from home. Residential interior design has changed dramatically over the past few decades. Home decorating ideas must now incorporate the needs of working professionals and busy families. Designer John Hutton spent his career anticipating those needs and developing furniture that complemented modern residential interior design.
When Hutton passed away from complications due to surgery, the residential interior design community mourned the loss of a professional who had influenced the world with his home decorating ideas. After a series of jobs at a number of influential residential interior design firms, Hutton was recruited to become design director for a leading fabric supplier and furniture manufacturer. Having created a number of acclaimed furniture designs, Hutton started his own residential interior design practice with a client roster that included Steve Martin and Ralph Lauren.
Residential Interior Design Relies on Simplicity
Hutton’s furniture designs are still popular today because of their simplicity. Even residential interior design professionals that work from home must balance clever home decorating ideas with the need for the kind of simplicity Hutton advocated. A growing number of residential interior designers now work from home, which allows them to model their own best practices to clients and prospects. The budget and tax benefits of working at home keep costs low for growing residential interior design practices.
One residential interior design professional says that she reduced her monthly expenses by fifty percent when she moved her practice to her home. Working from home in a popular vacation community allows Kathryn Guyitt another advantage. When her clients head north during the off-season, she can fill their houses with the latest home decorating ideas – which might even include some of John Hutton’s classic furniture designs.
