One characteristic that defines most modern designs of home interiors is the desire to express the home owner’s personal style. Whether it’s a couple wanting a tropical-style bedroom to reflect their Hawaiian honeymoon or a family wanting a design reminiscent of their Scottish roots, clients want designers who are responsive and current. One recent response in the profession has been the creation of blogs about the design of home interiors.
The saturation of American design magazines and television shows have made many homeowners into wannabe designers. Many, however, don’t know where to start other than the home decorating catalogs they get in the mail. Blogs provide an excellent way to reach these customers, many who are searching the Internet for ideas on how to design their home interior.
From Home Decorating Catalogs to Blogs
Some interior design companies already include blogs on their Web sites that talk about the latest suggestions to design home interiors. However, the personal nature of weblogs will allow interior design professionals to connect directly with potential clients. This relationship pays off over time as potential clients track the progress and the development of home interior designers that they want to work with.
A blog may connect you with customers, but you’ll need to impress these potential clients with your interior design know-how. An interior design degree gives you the credentials to blog about interior design topics with authority and show readers that a professional designer is better than a home decorating catalog any day.
Blogs provide a unique way to combine the personal with the professional. Your reach will extend far beyond traditional Web sites and mass mailed home decorating catalogs, providing a new link to customers and a way to respond to their questions and interests.
