Modern interior design has become a revolution in real estate today, growing into a multi billion-dollar industry with residential and commercial projects in locations all around the globe.

Growing Cities and the Design They Love

The Las Vegas Convention Center is undergoing an $890 million renovation to add space, new technology, and elements of modern interior design. The original estimate for the project was only $737 million, highlighting the increasing cost of modern interior design and architecture today.

In Las Vegas, Los Angeles, New York, Atlanta, Chicago, and numerous other cities, single-family residence developments are experiencing a lull as high-rise condos take the spotlight. Nearly all of these new residential projects feature modern interior design, often boasting green design elements like bamboo floors, energy-efficient lighting and heating systems, and low-flow fixtures. A $1 billion condo project in LA has made recent headlines, and in New York, condo buildings have completely replaced co-op buildings in new construction.

Education First in Interior Design

The opportunity that this huge trend in modern interior design has created for the industry is huge. Future architects and interior designers will find new expanded job prospects in commercial and residential design, especially in the cities mentioned above. Interior design colleges are now focusing on teaching students how to develop these modern, green buildings because of the huge upswing in demand.

Going to an interior design college will be essential for a career in this field. Given all the logistical and financial challenges of creating modern interior designs for so many cities, competition is fierce, and residential and commercial clients require a degree, experience, and an interior design license in many states. Getting your education is the essential first step to cashing in on this new wave of design.
