New York Designer Uses Software to Bring Modern to Life

Among the many essential tools of an interior designer—supportive firm, new projects, a good staff—the most important may be interior design software. The bridge between ideas and execution, interior design software plays an important role in the career of every designer. Daniele Perna, a New York designer whose commercial interior designs have made headlines, is a case in point.

Interior Design Software “Works”

On Walnut St. in Philadelphia, where auspicious retailers display their styles with style, interior design is a serious matter. Last year, the New York interior design firm of designer Daniele Perna created a modern design for an upscale Philadelphia shoe store, ‘The Shoe Loft.’

Mr. Perna and his staff depended on the capabilities of “VectorWorks,” 3D CAD interior design software, to communicate to his retail client the essence of his commercial interior design vision for the store. He used VectorWorks to create the following:

  • Presentations
  • 3D renderings
  • Elevations
  • Construction drawings

Software Makes Complex Designs Successful

“Despite the complexity and although the design for this project underwent numerous revisions, we were still able to quickly and cost-effectively keep the project moving,” Mr. Perna told the online CAD magazine Cadalyst.

Cost and time savings are additional benefits of CAD-based interior design software. Others include being able to show clients “impact and marketability,” said Mr. Perna. Creating an impact on a client and demonstrating how a design will help market their products helps designers develop and maintain great relationships.

CAD software is a crucial resource for developing effective commercial designs. Commercial interior design, after all, is about creating sales. If you help the seller sell, the seller will be sold on you as a designer.
